Powerboat  Level One Course

The RYA Powerboat One course is a two day practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats children up to 12 years. The course is designed to give a good basic understanding of how a powerboat works and moves and also covers all the safety issues related to operating a powerboat.  It also covers different designs and the preparation of both the crew and the boat before setting out afloat. A great way to introduce children into the delights of driving powerboats.

    The course teaches children to handle a powerboat under supervision. The course is not “teachy” and allows them to build their confidence and become a responsible boat operator. We do not allow children to join the course without a responsible adult or guardian available at all times

    Level 1 – £500 one to one tuition (2 day course)

    Level 1 – £350 per person  (two people training) 2 day course

    Launch and recovery

    Use of and types of personal safety equipment, use of boat hook

    Boat handling manoeuvres, starting, stopping, use of kill cord, steering controls, low speed handling,

    Securing to a mooring, leaving and coming alongside

    Basic IRPCS

    Rope work, different types of knots and ropes

    Man overboard recovery

    After the RYA Powerboat Level One Course

    You will be able to operate a powerboat under instruction from a skipper, safely and confidently in some basic situations and be prepared to move to Level 2.
